On Tour 10/10/23-11/30/23 “Lights Out” by Elise Hart Kipness

Release Date: November 1, 2023

About The Book:

Former Olympic athlete and current semi-disgraced sports reporter Kate Green isn’t sure how much more tumultuous her life can get. Then NBA superstar Kurt Robbins is killed, and the prime suspect in his murder is none other than his wife…and Kate’s best friend. Kate knows that Yvette’s marriage wasn’t exactly stable, but her friend is no murderer, and Kate is determined to prove it with her own investigation. While she tries to salvage Yvette’s life, Kate’s own continues to unravel. Her career is in limbo. Gossip columns speculate about her future. Her children are battling their own demons. And her estranged father suddenly reenters her life as a detective assigned to Kurt’s homicide case. As her worlds collide―exposing secrets, lies, and ulterior motives―Kate may have to choose between the games she can play and the one she might lose.

About The Author:

Elise Hart Kipness is a former television sports reporter turned thriller writer. Lights Out is based on her experience in the

high-pressure, adrenaline-pumping world of live TV. Like her protagonist, she chased marquee athletes through the tunnels of Madison Square Garden and stood

before glaring lights, reporting to national audiences.

In addition to reporting for Fox Sports Network, Elise was a news reporter at New York’s WNBC-TV, News 12 Long Island, and the Associated Press. She is currently co-president of Sisters in Crime Connecticut, as well as a member of Mystery Writers of America and International Thriller Writers. A graduate of Brown University, Kipness lives on a hobby farm in Stamford, Connecticut, with her family, three labradoodles, chickens, ducks, and one very cantankerous turkey. https://www.elisehartkipness.com/

Book Blurbs:

“Lights Out is a thriller that starts at breakneck pace and never lets up. Kate Green is a great character–you’ll want her to be your best friend, but she already has one, and she has to answer the question: is she a murderer?  In this striking debut, Elise Hart Kipness writes with heart, empathy, and psychological insight into evil that exists where you least expect it. She has created a main character who is real and warm and tough and faced with the biggest mystery of all: who in her world can she trust?  You don’t have to love sports to love this book, but either way, Kipness’s inside knowledge will pull you right in.” – Luanne Rice, New York Times bestselling author of The Shadow Box

“Drawing on her experience as a national sports reporter and long-time resident of suburban Connecticut, Elise Hart Kipness takes us inside both worlds in this scandalous, page-turning mystery!” – Wendy Walker, international bestselling author of What Remains

“What a fantastic debut! A unique protagonist. An interesting setting. And a story that grabs you from the beginning and keeps on building. I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one sitting!” – Chad Zunker, Amazon Charts bestselling author of Family Money

“Elise Hart Kipness’s Lights Out is a skillfully-constructed story of female friendship, hidden truths, and the mysteries that can lurk in seemingly quiet neighborhoods. I devoured every page.”-Tessa Wegert, author of the popular Shana Merchant mysteries, including The Kind To Kill

“Set in the high stakes world of professional sports, the book pits an appealing female protagonist against an increasingly slippery killer who will stop at nothing to evade capture.   Elise Hart Kipness is a writer we are sure to hear more from in the future!”-Carole Lawrence, award winning author of Cleopatra’s Dagger

“Lights Out is a seminal triumph in thriller writing, as original as it is polished. Elise Hart Kipness’ sterling debut takes us inside the world of professional sports on the one hand and a female reporter cracking that particular glass ceiling on the other. A crime thriller of rare depth and societal implications, Lights Out shoots straight and hits the bullseye dead center.”- Jon Land, USA Today bestselling author
