The story celebrates the joy of going to grandma’s house for the holidays – no matter what name she goes by and no matter where she lives. The fun, rhyming verses are a riff on the classic Christmas tune, Over the River and Through the Woods. But in this story, the grandmother lives in a lighthouse, or on houseboat, or in a cabin in the forest, or in a brownstone in the city, and the grandchildren who go to visit her use different modes of transportation to get to her place, depending on where she lives. It might be a subway or a ferry or a mini-van or an airplane. And when they get to her place they know they will be welcomed with hugs and cocoa and everything that makes them feel loved, safe, and cherished.

About The Author:

Susan Meissner is a USA TODAY bestselling author with more than three-quarters of a million books in print in eighteen languages. Mette Engell is a self-taught children’s illustrator and surface designer. She grew up in northern Zealand, the largest island of Denmark, and studied biology at the University of Copenhagen, where she earned her master’s degree in marine biology. She has always loved creating stories and characters, so after her first child was born, she picked up her pencil and hasn’t put it down since. Today she lives by the ocean with her husband and their three kids, two cats, and a lionhead bunny.
